ELA/Writing Weekly Skills & Objectives
1. Compare and contrast the overall structure (e.g., chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution) of events, ideas, concepts, or information in two or more texts.
2. Write informative and opinion pieces to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.
Accelerated Reader (AR)
Students are required to read thirty minutes every night in order to reach their AR goal for the quarter. The students will receive a classwork and quiz grade based on their AR goal completion at the end of each quarter. Parents need to carefully monitor their child's AR progress throughout the school year. Research indicates that there is a strong correlation between a student's reading achievement and the time a student spends reading independently each day. As we know students that are readers are leaders!
i-Ready Reading Practice
Students should be completing the Reading practice lessons at www.i-Ready.com for a minimum of 45 minutes every week in order to achieve skill mastery.
